SERP stands for Search Engine Results Page. It's the page you see after typing a query into Google or any other search engine. For example, if you search "best laptops 2025," the page showing all those website links, blog posts, and product listings is the SERP.

SERPs typically show two types of results: organic results (rankings earned through SEO) and paid results (ads that businesses pay to display). As users, we usually find what we need on the first page — which is why businesses fight tooth and nail to rank at the top of SERPs. Studies show that the first five results get over 67% of all clicks.

If you build your website with good SEO, create quality content, and follow Google's guidelines, you can improve your SERP ranking. The SERP is where your business or content gets discovered by users. That's why it's one of the most important concepts in digital marketing — visibility on SERPs directly translates to traffic, and traffic translates to business.
